Our hard work and determination from this past summer has led to this moment.
Today, we begin the 2014 legislative session with renewed hope and purpose.
I am eager to get to work defending the Constitution and the rights of law-abiding citizens.
This year, I will be carrying the repeal of the high capacity magazine ban that former Senate President John Morse rammed through the legislature last year.
In addition to restoring our 2nd Amendment rights, I’ll be working to strengthen Colorado’s Shield Law to bolster the First Amendment and our freedom of the Press.
I will also be pursuing Jessica’s Law to protect children from violent sexual predators.
These are the priorities I’ll be fighting for this session.
The recall was also about being responsive to constituents.
This Saturday, I will be holding a town hall meeting to let you know more about my priorities, the beginning of the legislative session, and the State of the State address.
More importantly, I’ll be there to answer your questions and listen to your comments and suggestions.
Hope you can join us at the Gold Hills Police Substation, 955 West Moreno Avenue from 10am-Noon.
I am honored to begin this legislative session as your state senator.
